Do you have a certain memory that has the ability to send waves of joy bounding in your heart? For me the thought of California has the ability to usher in a sense of springtime, youthful enthusiasm and exceeding joy in my heart. Simply put my love for California connects me to the place in my heart where I run free.
Do you have a certain heart connection that releases freedom, creativity and your God given wildness of heart? Yes, you were made with a living, beating, wild heart, so it’s important to tap into that lively girl and look at the world from her wide-eyed vantage point. That is the place where all possibility exists.
Sometimes that means setting aside, the sometimes overly responsible, bill paying, meal making and laundry schlepping task master that doesn’t allow time for a pulse check. Without a pulse check our creative selves get bottle necked. So instead of being controlled by our to-do list, we need to make a concerted effort to connect to the fun girl that lives inside our hearts.
Paul said in Romans 8:15-16, “This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are.” MSG
Why not take a moment today, to quiet yourself and reflect on what makes your heart come alive? What has God given you that hooks you up to His free flowing well of creativity, joy and life?
We all know there are plenty of things that work to damn up the Spirit of God flowing through our lives, so imagining the green cool grass beneath your feet, the wind blowing through your hair, the sun’s radiant heat on your face, or whatever it might be, could be the ticket to tap into a hidden well of joy. Let God’s Spirit touch your spirit, follow Him on an expectant adventure and experience the new heights you are invited to explore within your own wild heart.
