A few nights ago I had a dream about being in Chinatown where a sinister Chinese woman began lashing out at me for no apparent reason, saying she wanted to kill me. I fled to my car to get away and ended up driving on top of buildings along hidden tracks above the city. Very few people knew about these tracks, however I did pass a few others traveling on them.
When I woke up I knew that the dream was about spiritual warfare and the hidden track of the spiritual realm the Lord has invited His people to travel on in the heavenly places. As believer’s we are called to move beyond the flesh and exercise the authority we have been given in the heavenly realm.
Paul tells us in Ephesians that we have been raised up with Christ, and seated with Him in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 2:6)
He admonishes us that, “… our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12
In the Gospels Jesus tells us clearly, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” John 10:10
When things are running smoothly its easy to become complacent and forget that our world consists of more than what our eyes see in the natural. There is a whole spiritual realm in motion that we are called to participate in as representatives of the kingdom. The Lord reminds us that we need to be vigilant as warriors, armed and ready at all times.
“Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man." Luke 21:36
A short time after awaking from my dream, I read an email that confirmed what I dreamt, speaking about an attack that had been released in the spiritual realm. This was a message to hasten believers to pray, recalling the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Olympics, where at the onset of the games Chinese drummers beat their drums in war like fashion.
After sharing my dream with my son who lives in New York City, he recalled stumbling upon a demonized woman on the streets who swore and cursed at him in a foreign language. He realized what had transpired in the spiritual realm and why he had been battling sickness. We prayed together to break off the spoken curses and to usher in healing for his body.
It is necessary in these times that we become fluent in the language of the Spirit, though often and especially if unpracticed, seems like a foreign language. We need to familiarize ourselves with our position in Christ. The Apostle Paul explained that we are called to make know the wisdom of God to the rulers in the heavenly places. "...The manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 3:10)
Its time to stand, watch and pray!
