“Does someone hear my cry? I'm dying for new life. I want to be beautiful. Make you stand in awe. Look inside my heart, and be amazed. I want to hear you say, who I am is quite enough. Just want to be worthy of love, and beautiful....Won't you help me back to glory?"
The sentiment in Bethany Dillon’s song "Beautiful" expresses what we all feel. Don't her words express the wide open place we struggle to apprehend on many days? Doesn't humanity cry out for this place? The place of abundance, acceptance and perfect love that lifts us up above our well tailored and boxed in restraint.
Isn’t this the place where even on dismal days, we cast off our shoes and feel the cool grass beneath our toes, the fresh breeze in our hair, and the sun upon our face? This is where we apprehend the abundance we possess, the beauty and greatness, instead of scarcity.
One man said, “The only reason men fail is broken focus.” The power of focus is amazing. Just close your eyes and apprehend that wide open space where you feel completely accepted, loved and beautiful. In this place yesterday’s failures are in the past, self doubt is banished, and accusation denied. Why not grab a hold of this abundant vision? Don’t let go for all it’s worth. Hold your focus of perfect love.
Does this seem frivolous? Would you rather live in the narrow, shallow place of resistance and self-sentencing? We need to be ruthless about our focus, beholding before us, that which we seek. How do we do that? As Compass Network, where I do my group coaching models, "See it! Own it! Live it! Be it!"
1. Identify all distraction that pulls your vision from you. Fine tune it, making it even clearer. See it!
2. Refuse to be derailed by detours. See what you want and own it!
3. Be a master at your work and study to perfect it. Do it and live it!
4. Be convinced of who you are at the core. Leave the naysayers behind in the dust and don’t glance back in the rearview mirror. Be it!
Read Dillon’s final refrain in her song,
“You make me beautiful. You make me stand in awe. You step inside my heart, and I am amazed. I love to hear you say, who I am is quite enough. You make me worthy of love and beautiful.”
Now believe it!
