Tag Your It

Before I headed out of town I decided to write my family love notes. Feeling compelled I jotted down Jeremiah 33:3 for my daughter when it popped into my head. I’ve always heard this scripture referred to as God’s phone number! “Call on me and I will answer you and I will tell you great and mighty things that you do not know.”

As I wrote the words I felt the same excitement stir in my spirit as I did when I first heard the verse years ago. It’s the same invitation in Matthew 7:7-8, “Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened.”

Why would we ever stop asking, seeking and knocking when “great and mighty things” are just behind the door. I am so hungry for more of God and more of “great and mighty things” that I haven't yet discovered about God. None of us will ever begin to scratch the surface of God’s unfathomable greatness.

I think God is on the same wave length, because He woke me up one night a few weeks ago and said, Internship with God. Then immediately the verse from Song of Solomon popped into my head, “Put me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm, for love is as strong as death.”

God is so jealous for our love. He wants nothing more than to find us searching, pursuing and knocking in this romance and game of discovery like, tag-your-it. He’s inviting us to seek out His love that is stronger than death. I am ready to go deeper in this Internship with God, aren’t you? I am ready to throw off the comfortable context of all I’ve know about God and get down further into the unknown, the mysterious, the “great and mighty things” of God. Holy Spirit be my guide!
