Here I am in Florida. I met my husband here after a great week celebrating my Grandmother’s 84th birthday in Arkansas with my sister and then onto my cousin's wedding in Holly Springs, Mississippi and a sleepover at my Aunt June’s house in Memphis. We had a blast.
Now in Florida I have some down time to walk on the beach, lay in the sun, wake up late and spend alone time with God. Here I am reminded that God has been after me! Yes, He’s been chasing me down, even waking me up in the night a few weeks ago to say, “Internship with God!” Then He whispered in my ear from Song of Solomon, “Put me life a seal over your heart, for love is stronger than death.”
Everything He wants to talk to me about has to do with love, His relentless love. He wants to teach me to love my husband, my family, my friends and the world with His kind of crazy love. That seems to be why He told me to read the book, Love Dare, a book spoken of in the movie, Fireproof. It is a devotional of sorts, to fireproof your marriage, but for me it is more than that. It is a handbook on learning to love more fully.
Yesterday, in Borders bookstore, I stumbled upon another book the Lord prompted me to buy entitled, Crazy Love, by Francis Chan. GET THIS BOOK! Then go to the website as the book instructs and join me on this journey into God’s Crazy Love, the breadth, the width, the height and the magnitude that is sure to blow our minds.
I am awestruck even now as I write. God is in love with me! So much more than I have known, so much more than I have seen, or comprehended and so much so that He relentlessly pursues me!
I witness the emptiness of mankind's longing for romance, and our great lengths to capture it. We look in bars, we look longingly into eyes across the lane, we look for adventure and activity, searching to fill the empty place in our hearts that is God shaped.
All the while this totally complete God is incomplete without us. He is lonesome for my companionship as He is for yours. He is crazy for me, and crazy for you. He is Crazy love bent on nothing but drawing us into His all consuming, transforming, world changing, intoxicating, breath halting love! At some point for each of us, all there is left to do is stop running, throw up our hands and say, "I am Yours!”
