God is Redecorating

Have you ever tried to hold onto something when God continues to kick the feet out from under whatever is propping up your attachments? Well, I know the writing on the wall when God decides its time to redecorate. No amount of kicking or screaming will derail His plan.

In fact I am so familiar with His propensity for change in my life that I don’t even put up such a fight anymore. Why would I? Just imagine your head pressed into the palm of a massive 7 foot Goliath size wrestler as you little body flails and kicks in mid air. Now picture the same wrestling match with God who is a million times bigger.

When God wants something in my life, I discovered that it’s because it’s standing in His way of what He wants to give me, which is so much bigger than what I'm holding onto. I don’t mean bigger cars, houses or diamonds. I mean more of Him.

I know God is redecorating in my life and although He hasn’t shown me the blue prints, I know that nothing I could hold onto in this world will compare with what He has up His sleeves. Wow, that’s risky to even say, because God isn’t fond of crumbs. He wants the best. He doesn’t ask for dietetic portions either. He wants the whole enchilada.

When life looks like a construction zone; it’s important to remember that in time the bumpy ground will be smooth. When the trees are being felled, picture the view that will soon be expansive. When the ground is torn up, I need to remember the lushness of new life that emerges in the spring.

Don’t you feel much better about the whole scale of God’s project when you’re reminded about His ultimate vision? Who knows, maybe He plans to change the garden shed into a beautiful mountain retreat.
