As humans we naturally have great strengths as well as utter weaknesses. Considering that weakness is inherent in our human make up, why is it that we work so hard to deny this fact?
Most of us spend a good deal of time consistently trying to convince ourselves that we aren’t weak, when it’s the very thing God is after. What if instead of working to cover over our weaknesses, we embraced them? Instead of working to deny our limitations we actually boasted in them?
That’s what Paul did, he boasted in his weakness! He said he would boast in his weakness, so that the power of Christ would be strong on his behalf. Scripture tells us that “power is perfected in weakness." (2 Cor. 12:9)
In 2009 I plan on being a lot more boastful about my weaknesses, starting with my math skills. I want to witness the power of God in areas of my life that are way over my head!
Instead of relying on procedure and control to keep our weaknesses out, why not invite God in, to do what is beyond our natural ability? That’s what I am looking for in 2009. I want to get out of the boat and trust God to get me to the other side.
Some of you are in that place right now and you’re wishing you weren’t. But you have the great opportunity to witness God’s power on your behalf, as you watch Him part the waters that are way over your head. It’s time to let go of the shore line and let God’s power manifest in our lives. It's time to boast in our weakness.
