Are Your Hungry?

Children love to play with their food. When my son Josh was a toddler, he had such little interest in his food that after flipping and stirring his concoctions’, he virtually nodded off to sleep in his plate.

When I was given to hunger on the other hand, I was known to do a Houdini and make my food disappear in seconds flat. Wouldn’t you prefer a good appetite for what you ingest, rather than consuming something in an obligatory fashion?

This same principal applies to life. Passion and desire are indispensible in sustaining a thriving life that will keep you from dozing off when facing the mundane. It could be said that you will never accomplish a dream without being hungry, or better said, without passion. Carl Sandburg said, “Nothing happens unless first a dream.” Dreams are born from a place of passion.
It’s not surprising that those around you will be able to sense the pulsing current of passion that resides with in you. They will be drawn into the stream. Contrarily, imagine the effect lukewarmness, indifference, and ambiguity has as it relates to the things we fill our lives with. Rather than drawing us into its intoxicating effect, they repel and send people away running.

What is the passion level in your life? Are people chasing you down, or running for dear life? On a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being high) how is your passion level related to how you spend the majority of your time? Is it low? If so you need to reconnect to what stirs your heart! If you scored high, how are you sustaining your passionate enthusiasm, so as not to let it wane?

Answer these questions below and follow the suggestions to engage your most passionate self.

1. When was the last time you felt metaphorically hungry, excited and engaged in life? Check in with your pulse frequently to access where your passion level lies.

2. What do you love to do for enjoyment and fun? If you discover where your enjoyment lies, you will discover keys to access your passion. Identify the keys that stir up your creativity, childlikeness and ultimately your passion and implement them into your life regularly.

3. If you could do anything what would you do? What stirs your heart with glee? If you can’t answer this you need to reconnect with fun. If you’ve forgotten how to have fun, I dare you to get out there and give yourself permission to explore. When you determine what you love to do, lean into it and brainstorm about a way to implement this into your life full time in some capacity, or another.

4, What would it look like to integrate this into your life? What would it feel like? Begin to design and write a plan that will let your passion be the central element in your life. Start to live your passion. Be tenacious about watching over it, and intentionally keeping it alive. Don’t be content to feed yourself any longer on something that does not satisfy, but leaves you wasting time and dozing off in your plate. Live with passion!
