Living at the Cause of Life Rather Than the Effect

This week as I was driving along, a bright yellow swirl flashed before my eyes and immediately my heart was stirred with wonder. Suddenly it occurred to me that daffodils are spring’s Christmas presents.

Their first appearance causes my heart to leap with the similar anticipation as opening a shiny present on Christmas morning. It’s truly a wonder that amidst the grayness of winter, a burst of color can invade the world and pronounce the promise of spring. Try though you may, it’s impossible to frown when seeing springs’ first blossoms.

Spring flowers are just one picture of the possibilities close at hand that often lay dormant and unrecognizable, until like the daffodil, seize the opportunity to burst forth. Have you thought to take note of the many possibilities that fill your life, though unrecognizable at first glance?

Imagine being a daffodil, yet choosing to remain at the effect of life and not the cause. What if you laid beneath the earth in hopeless misery, perceiving that you needed to be pulled up through the hard soil, rather than responding proactively to the opportunity spring offers to live at the cause of your life?

I love this powerful metaphor pertaining to living a life of brilliance, seen through a frail daffodil. Now just for a moment ponder the possibilities in any human life. Why would we live at the effect of life and let ourselves remain dormant?

What a great time to follow suit with the daffodil and awaken to the many possibilities in life that up until now may have seemed out of sight. What are the first warm rays of spring inspiring in you? How will you position yourself, your sight, and perspective to see the obstacles around you as vast opportunities to move you forward?

What springtime present is waiting for YOU!
