Glory Carriers

Romans 1:20 tells us. “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen.” Wouldn’t that mean that through living a life of faith we would be more highly in tune to encountering His invisible attributes, experiencing His eternal power, and divine nature? Since it is clear that the universe reveals the glory of God, “The whole earth is full of His glory”(Isaiah 6:3) shouldn’t we be experiencing it?

What is the glory of God? It is His character, nature, essence, splendor and presence. Just look around and you can witness the glory of God.

Recognizing the glory of God is a great place to start in attributing to God His due, but I want to go much further than that. I want to be like Moses who was actually changed, and transformed by the glory of God. When Moses encountered the glory of God on the mountain, he was altered forever.

At Pentecost, Peter had an encounter with the glory of God as the Holy Spirit filled the house with a sound like a violent rushing wind. The disciples were so altered that people thought they were drunk. Then Peter preached with power and 3,000 people were saved.

In the book of Acts there are many miraculous encounters with the glory of God. One such encounter was when Paul and Silas, singing and praying, while imprisoned for the Gospel, suddenly encountered an earthquake. It was so strong that it shook the foundations of the prison and immediately the chains fell off all of the prisoners.

That is exactly what happens when we encounter the presence and glory of God. The very foundations of our prison houses get shaken and we are released from our chains.

In Ephesians 1:18-19, Paul prayed that "the Father of glory" would give us a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him and that the eyes of our heart would be enlightened to know the hope of His calling and the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the Saints and to understand what the surpassing greatness of His power toward those who believe.

That is my continual prayer, that the eyes of my heart would be enlightened to see more and more of God, to know the wealth of His glory given as my inheritance in the Saints, to comprehend and be transformed by the greatness of His power. I want to be a glory carrier to effect change in the world! How about you?
